Comments: I was watching Pet Keeping with Mark Marrone this weekend, which had a feature on chinchillas. Apparently when the Spanish came across them in the mountains of Peru, they named them after a group of the local people... Which I'm sure the locals loved. I immediately had a vision in my head of Spanish conquistadors being swarmed down upon by thousands of hyper chinchillas.
