04 | 24 | 06 > WHAT? MY BIRTHDAY? REALLY?
I've been tired for a long time. Between my day job, a sick dog and racing to get pages done for my upcoming comic, I'm a mess. I am worn out and twisted with worry, so I've been kind of out of it. Friday, a coworker said something about celebrating my birthday this weekend, and it threw me off guard. It really did. The whole thing slipped my mind.
My wife, has gone out of her way to nice things for the occassion which is even more special because with the poor dog having a new problem everyday, and the fact that we haven't seen much of each other lately due to me being in my studio most of my free time, hunched over a drawing table. Mrs. Walters is all right in my book and a real trooper.
For my birthday, some good friends took us out to dinner and we had a great time. I was also shamed a bit for not using MySpace to its full potential. One of our friends, Tina recently set up the Diabolical Hot Dog Posse group over at MySpace, and through no effort on my part has really built it into something. I was stunned to find out that in its short history the group had grown to thirty-something people, and is continuing to grow. My hat goes off to Tina for setting all that up for Diabolical Hot Dog, who by the way, now has his own profile on MySpace. Now, if only I could get my own profile into better shape. Oh well.
Now, I bet a lot of you regulars are starting to wonder if the weekly updates are even coming this week and the answer is YES! We start this week, as promised with news about new buttons. We just got in a supply of four new designs including: Cyclops Chimpanzee, Moon Squirrel, Sign of The Beast, and Triclops Duck... Huh, there is a whole eye thing with this batch isn't there? Anyway, you can check them out and purchase an assortment in the Nerfect Button Shop.
New stickers are coming and in production and I'll let you know when they arrive. We are still giving away free ones when you send us a S.A.S.E., but we will be getting in some new funky, die-cut ones (like the ones that you can buy here) in the next few months. The next one promises to be a real winner, so keep on checking back fr release details.
As busy as I have been, I have been able to keep up with my daily drawing project, 4x6x365 '06. Last week, I had just crossed the century mark and I have kept on trucking with them. Bear witness to this week's batch starting with this one.
I've also updated the Picture of The Week and the Link of The Week. Well, with all that said I have to be off until next time... I have to get back to drawing.
04 | 17 | 06 > WOOO! SPRING BREAK! YEAH! IT TOTALLY STANK.
It has been a rough week for us at the Nerfect compound. Spring break for Mrs. Walters and a three day work week for me was brought down by the illness of one of our dogs. She hadn't been going to the bathroom as much as usual and had been kind of lethargic, but took a turn for the worse Wednesday and started having seizures. A stay at the animal hospital and lots of drugs has taken its toll, not only on the little dog, but on the rest of the household. Between worrying about her and taken on an insane schedule to complete my new comic book, I am pretty wiped out... Frankly, I'm a mess.
Things are slowly returning to normal. Pica is getting used to her medication, and forgeting from time to time that with being drugged up, she can't manage a few things. Her back legs keep on slipping out from behind her, making stairs and turning corners a bit troublesome, but she is getting better.
Rough as a week as it was, I did manage to keep up with my standard operations. As I mentioned before, I'm working on a new book and worrying about getting in time. I've also kept on trucking with the ol' 4x6x365 '06 scheme. I've even crossed the one-hundred drawing mark... Huzzah! The first of the new batch of drawings can be seen right here my fine folks.
I've also managed to update the Picture of The Week, which came from our little trip to San Francisco not too far back. Actually, the new few shots are bound to come from that trip, so brace yourselves.
The Link of The Week has also been updated, and features a site brought to my attention by the talented Mr. Trost... A man who shares my odd current obsession with the Fat Boys, and who is constantly posting beautifully odd videos onto my MySpace comments section. Yes, I'm on MySpace, but I haven't really used it too it's full power (whatever that may mean.)
Well, that is all for this week. Hopefully, next week I will have some more news about my sick dog and some fresh Nerfect stickers and buttons that are in the works as I type this. Take care.
04 | 11 | 06 > I JUST FLEW IN FROM SAN FRANCISCO AND BOY, ARE MY UPDATES TIRED
The wife and I took a quick, weekend trip out to San Francisco to visit our good friend Jen. We had a great time and I ended up buying a load of funky toys and eating some fantastic food.
Frankly, I just got back a few hours ago, and I'm pretty beat, so I'm going to keep this short. I'll try to be more generous with the words next time, but here is what has been updated this time around:
1. My 4x6x365 '06 series keeps on expanding and I have posted new pictures. Start here and check all the new ones out.
2. The Picture of The Week has also been updaterized, so feel free to peep it.
3. Finally, if you must leave Nerfect, why not check out our Link of The Week?
04 | 03 | 06 > LET'S TAKE A STAB AT THESE UPDATES
You know what I don't recommend? Stabing an Xacto knife into your finger. Unfortunately, that is what I ended up doing last week. I was cutting and matting stuff onto foamcore boards this past Tuesday when I accidentally stuck one of those mofos into my left pointer finger. It didn't seem so bad at first, but after a couple hours it was still bleeding and I was off to the emergency room.
A few hours later, I was laying in a bed watching Gilmore Girls while a doctor stitched up my numbed finger. Again, I highly don't recommend sticking an Xacto into your own finger. This is especially the case when you have a comicbook you need to draw pages for and a few last things to take care of for a musical that opens in New York at the end of the week.
The musical I am speaking of is the Adventures of Caveman Robot: The Musical that is a must see presentation if you are in the New York city area. I'm usually not the biggest booster of musical theater, but in this case I urge all that can get there to attend. I've done a few bits of design work for it, and the characters in it are based on those I developed with Jason Robert Bell.
If you can't make the play, why not console yourself by viewing the latest drawings in my 4x6x365 '06 project. Sure, it isn't the same as seeing Caveman Robot duke it out with a plethora of finky fiends, but they are amusing no less. The first drawing in the new batch can be seen here.
Next, I've also updated the Link of The Week and Picture of The Week, so go check those features out.
Finally, I feel it my duty to inform all you Monday morning Nerfect fans, that next week's update will be a bit late as I have a few projects that need my full attention. I'm shooting to try to come a lot of the work involved in the weekly updates ahead of schedule, and to get them up and running by next Wednesday at the latest. Until then, please take the time to enjoy all that Nerfect has to offer you.
