05|31|04 NO REST FOR THE NERFECT
I've tried to stay ahead of all my deadlines, but they are closing in on me fast. This means many, many late nights for Mr. Walters. I'm not so much frazzled as I'm just going through the motions.
I did step out for a few errands, and I as write this, I have recently returned from watching a movie at our friends' place down the street. As we were leaving we came across a lost dog. It was sweet as all get out, and was soaking wet. I had really cut into my work time, but we couldn't just let the poor animal wander the streets. In the end, Mrs. Walters and our friends took the dog to the local police station (as they were advised to by the authorities.)
While I try to catch up, please help yourself to the COMIC OF THE WEEK and PICTURE OF THE WEEK. The ICON OF THE WEEK no longer exits, but you can download all 100 right here.
05|28|04 A PLETHORA OF PAINTINGS!
Do I love the word "plethora" or what? It just sounds good coming out of my speak hole. Anyway, I finally got a sack full of new paintings to look at in the RECENT PAINTINGS section.
If you dig them and you'll be in Chicago between June 5-6 you have the chance to pick one up at bargain basement prices at the DEPART-ment event. You can read more about it here. If you make delightful items of your own, it isn't too late to sign up. It doesn't cost a thing to enter and all it takes is sending them an e-mail (see their site for details), but you've got to do it before May, 31.
05|24|04 100TH WEEKLY WHATEVER
I wasnıt really how to say it, but yes kids, it is the one-hundredth week of this siteıs regular weekly features. Huzzah! For almost two whole years I have been posting a new COMIC OF THE WEEK, ICON OF THE WEEK and PICTURE OF THE WEEK. Time really flies doesnıt it?
Part of mentioning this was to announce that I will no longer be doing an ICON OF THE WEEK, and this weekıs will be the last of the series. Next week visitors to the website will be able to download all one hundred (plus a few bonus treats) in one big package. Itıs not that I donıt like doing them, but it seemed like a good place to wrap things up. Also the days of the thirty-two by thirty-two pixel is going the way of five-inch floppy discs and the McDLT.
Icon fans should not be too sad because this week also sees the introduction of two new desktop icon sets for Macintosh, ¡Pixel-Libre! and Pug Pals. The ¡Pixel-Libre! set contains pixelated masked wrestlers, and as you might assume from the name, Pug Pals has a trio of pug head icons. There is another set almost ready, and that Iıll probably put up next week.
I was so pleased with how the artwork for these icons was working that I put them onto a few items in Café Press. The work really lent itself to being put on coffee mugs and the like. Iıve set up links from the Garage Sale section to the various new item listings. I invite you to check out Boom Bunny, Nixelated, ¡Pixel-Libre!, and Pugs.
Just because it may be the end of the ICON OF THE WEEK, it doesnıt mean the other weekly features are ending. I really want to start doing a serialized story in the place of the COMIC OF THE WEEK, but my schedule right now hasnıt allowed for it.
I also have loads of pictures to last several PICTURE OF THE WEEK features for some time to come. Speaking of pictures, I have posted pictures from my recent trip to San Francisco.
The next couple weeks are going to be rather busy. Iıve done eighteen small paintings that I will try to put up in RECENT PAINTINGS soon. I created them to sell at the DEPART-ment event, which takes place June 5 and 6. If youıve always wanted a goofy piece of Mr. Waltersı artwork, and you are in Chicago that weekend, come by and check them out.
For the same show, I am helping a good pal of mine with her fab new body and home products that will also be at the show. Iım designing labels and such, and I will keep you all posted about it as it grows closer to the show.
If this wasnıt a lot already, I am also laying out a monster, eighty-eight page Caveman Robot comic book, that will be premiered at the San Diego International Comic Convention in July. There will be a few Mr. Walters pieces in it, and I will keep you all posted when I can reveal more information.
Now, if youıll excuse me, I have a load of work to get to. Please help yourself to the one-hundredth COMIC OF THE WEEK, ICON OF THE WEEK and PICTURE OF THE WEEK.
05|17|04 NERFECT.COM IS UPDATED BEFORE A LIVE STUDIO AUDIENCE
Is it a new week already? Where does the time go? I've been pretty busy as of late and have been blessed by a sudden burst of creativity. I've had this flood of inspiration and drive to make a plethora of different things. If I can keep the recent momentum up, the results of my artistic endeavors should soon be posted here on the ol' website.
One of the things I've gotten done is creating a gallery of a few pictures from my trip back in February. Check out 8 DAYS TOO MANY IN LAS VEGAS. It was way past time, and with any luck I'll be posting another travel gallery next week.
Aside from the new gallery, I have posted new editions of the COMIC OF THE WEEK, ICON OF THE WEEK, and PICTURE OF THE WEEK.
P.S. I just got the new Twink CDs (Supercute! and The Toy Box) in the Nerfect mailbox, and they are ultra-fab! Mr. Langlie plays a mean toy piano and the discs have been in heavy rotation around the Nerfect clubhouse since they came in. I especially dug The Toy Box which has all the tracks (plus a couple extra) on a trio of mini-discs in excellent packaging and with a charming picture book all together in a small box. A definite paws up from all the critters in our cave.
P.P.S. I also got my order from Super 7 magazine of a couple back issues and the brand new one. If you love quirky Japanese toys, the current designer toys and artists inspired by them you should pick up a copy of Super 7. It is a really well done affair. The latest issue features Gary Baseman, Booska, and the third part of a history of Optimus Prime toys.
05|10|04 I HEARD THAT SUNDAY WAS MOTHERS' DAY... SHUT YOUR MOUTH! I WAS JUST TALKING ABOUT MOTHERSı DAY. I CAN DIG IT.
Yep, this past Sunday was Mothers' Day, and we here in the Nerfect bunker hope all you mothers had a good one. We also hope all you non-mothers took the time out to show your love to your own mothers.
I've spent most of my weekend building shelves for some of my beloved artifacts and relics. The ol' studio has been in need of a good reorganization, and the new shelves help to free up more surfaces for more utilitarian functions. I'm alway suprised that I can build functional items with my hillbilly carpentry skills and that I can use power tools and still have all my digits.
While I arrange my plethora of plastic foolishness on my new shelves, please partake (yeah, I said "partake") in the delightful COMIC OF THE WEEK, ICON OF THE WEEK, and PICTURE OF THE WEEK.
05|03|04 DANG MAY POLER'S ELBOW
Between all the may pole dancing and fighting against the corporate establishment I did this May Day weekend I'm in pretty bad shape. You don't think about it when you're prancing around in period costume or tossing bricks at the factory gates do you? Well, as I rub in some soothing Count Otto Von Glogersmoot's Miracle Balm into my sore elbow, why don't you peek at the COMIC OF THE WEEK, ICON OF THE WEEK, and PICTURE OF THE WEEK.
