05 | 30 | 07 > NOT QUITE DISCOMBOBULATED, BUT PRETTY CLOSE
Freedom sometimes has an odd effect on me. A little time away from work, like this last longer-than-usual weekend, and I am a dynamo of ideas and potential. There is so much I want to do now. Yes, right now, but there just isn't the actual time to do it all in.
Oddly, at the same time, when I do sit down to do something, like writing this for instance, things just don't come together right. Words tumble out awkwardly and sentences fail and die horrible flaming deaths. In fact, I have attempted to write this week's piece a few times now.
There is just way too much in my head. Multiple trains of thought rolling through it when I should really focus in on the moment and write. As I type this, I keep thinking about a couple projects I'm working on, a friend I haven't heard from in a while, wondering if I'm getting sick, wondering what Rufus is doing upstairs, and on and on. It really has gummed up the works.
I feel like I write about how I have a hard time writing a lot. For this I do apologize to the site's regular visitors. It isn't like I do have a few exciting things to talk about, so let's move onto them.
What week would be complete without a new set of my daily drawings. Yes kids, my 4x6x365 '07 project continues to move forward and the stack of drawings keeps growing. This week's pieces start with this one right here. Please have a look and enjoy!
I've also updated the Picture of The Week and the Link of The Week features. While we're on the subject of websites, you should also make it a point to check out Ow! My Sweet Eyes! It's a little side project I work on displaying odd bits of video I've come across on the ol' internet and which I share for all the world to see.
Holy wombat! How did I forget this? I've also set up a few Nerfect t-shirts up on Bountee.com for ladies, gentlemen and wee folk. I've been wanting to make some t-shirts for a while, and when I found the direct-to-garment-printing magic of Bountee, I thought I'd give it a shot. Right now, I'm using it as a test bed to see what designs people dig and that I should explore producing in the future. Please go check it out.
Well, that is all I can think of for now. I've really got to jump on a couple things and get them marked off my list. Take care of yourself and stay Nerfect!
05 | 22 | 07 > KNOW THY SELF... EVEN IF YOU'RE MR. WALTERS
Here are a couple things I've realized about myself in the last few weeks:
1. When given the chance to put my projects aside for a little while and to simply relax, I am horrible at it. I just can't take a night off, collapse on a couch and watch reruns of Sanford and Son. I stink at taking it easy. The reason for this might be related to my second realization.
2. I'd like to make more art. Working on the horse reminded me how much I love making things, even if I physically pay for it later with bruises, sore joints and a burned neck. As I work on my artwork, I am at peace. If I could shift the balance from the commercial stuff I do during the day to pay the bills to making artwork, I think I'd be a lot more comfortable. Ideally, I'd love to do artwork full time.
As part of that second point, I'm making a resolution to put more effort into this area. I'm also putting it out there, that I would welcome any opportunities to exhibit my work or collaborate with other artists in a way to generate more work. If you know of a group show looking for artists or are an artist that would be willing to align yourself with Nerfection, drop me a line.
By the way, speaking of "more work", I have added another batch of drawing s to my growing 4x6x365 series. You may review the latest batch of folly starting here.
I've also updated the Link of The Week and Picture of The Week, so please go check them out. Well, that's it for now. Take it easy. See you next week.
05 | 16 | 07 > CHOMPING AT THE BIT TO UPDATE
Before we get to the regular weekly features, I would like to talk about some other bits of news. Now, let's see which one should I talk about first?
Well, seeing as you've seen the image above, let's briefly talk about the carousel horse I painted for a local public art display. Yes, that is "painted" in the past tense. With Mrs. Walters' help, I have put in a few hard nights and long days, and have completed the carousel horse I've been talking about for a couple weeks now. Finally, I have gotten some pictures of the process and the final piece up for you to look at.
Now, for all you Diabolical Hot Dog enthusiasts out there, I'm happy to announce that Threadless has reprinted the Diabolical Hot Dog t-shirt. Now is your chance to get your hands on one if you missed it the first time around.
As hard as it was to do this week along with painting the horse, I did manage to keep up with my 4x6x365 '07 drawings. A couple even document the physical beating I took in order to get that thing finished. You can see the entirety of this week's drawings starting here.
I've also managed to update the Picture of The Week (Gosh, I wonder if it is a shot of the horse?), as well as the Link of The Week. Ow! My Sweet Eyes! has also been maintained this week, and if you haven't checked it out in a while, please go take a peek.
Well, that is all I have for you this week. Enjoy this week's features. Take care of yourself. Shine on all you crazy diamonds, shine on.
05 | 09 | 07 > A FIST FULL OF UPDATES
There just aren 't enough hours in the day. Between my day job and my many, many projects I 've been working on lately, it is a wonder I 'm typing this. I 'm pretty worn out.
Last week when I updated this site, the Picture of The Week was of an unpainted, fiberglass carousel horse that I 'm painting for a public art event this summer in nearby Oak Park. Since I took that shot, I am well underway to covering that beauty with all manner of Nerfectness and paint. I must say that things are going pretty well, except for dripping paint on my patio a few times (Dang!), and the horse is really starting to shape up.
I have been snapping shots of the horse at each step in the process, so that I can share the amazing transformation with you all, but I 've been pretty short on free time the last few weeks and the pictures have yet to be posted. Maybe I 'll craft an animated slideshow for you all when the horse is completed. Time will tell.
Also, since the last posting, I have gotten in another shipment of amusing buttons. Most of them were reprints of some of the ones I was running low on, and one new one of a pug balancing a banana on his head. If you dig buttons, you should go check out the ol ' button section.
If it is Wednesday, you know what that means. Yup, new drawings in my 4x6x365 '07 series. You may review the latest batch starting here.
I 've also updated the Link of The Week and Picture of The Week, so now your life is complete. No need to thank me all at once. Take care.
05 | 02 | 07 > I LOVE IT WHEN AN UPDATE COMES TOGETHER
Hello and welcome once again to Nerfect.com, the internet's premiere showcase of the work of Mr. Walters... Mainly, because I, Mr. Walters, put it together. It is funny how these things work out isn't it?
Anyway, regular visitors to this website know that if it is Wednesday, it is time for my weekly updates. Each week this website gets bigger little by little, but before I get to the weekly updates, I would like to mention a couple things that you've probably all ready spotted.
The first being , the snazzy new banner and such folly. I've been meaning to spruce the old place up a bit for a while and I finally got around to it. I'll probably be tweaking and nibbling away at this site in the upcoming months in order to freshen things up a bit.
The other thing you may have noticed is that banner above this text, introducing my latest sticker design, Necronaut. If you dig stickers, and especially Nerfect brand stickers, you have to check it out. They're a bargain at a buck for two stickers!
Moving on, for yet another week, I have managed to bring out a new set of drawings in my 4x6x365 '07 series. No matter how busy or tough things get, I always manage to make the time to do a silly drawing for the project. You can see the latest batch, starting with this beauty.
Finally, I've also gotten a new Link of The Week and Picture of The Week. This week's picture hints at one of my latest projects, painting a full-size carousel horse for a public art event coming up in nearby Oak Park. If you're all very good, maybe I'll post updates and pictures of the piece as I work on it... Heck , I might even let you know when and where you can see it in person this summer while I'm at it.
Well, that is it for now. Take care and keep Nerfect.
