With my concept approved and a sponsor lined up, all I had to do was pick up the horse. With the help of fellow horse artist and good friend, Brian, we brought a couple horses back to our respective garages in Mrs. Walters versatile hatchback.
The carousel horses are actual size like on a merry-go-round, so it was a bit tricky. Most of the horse fit inside the car, but because of the way the head and one of the front legs were positioned, part of the horse hung out of the back off the car. The poles that came with the horses (not shown in picture) ran most of the length of the car 's interior and part of it ended up resting near the gearshift.
After a couple trips with our fingers crossed, the horses made it to where they needed to be without any noticeable signs of damage. Below is an image of the horse I painted as it was when I first brought it into my garage.
It turned out that the horses were pre-primed, so I could get right to work. Well, that is after a trip to my local hardware store.
